Our Family Rules

So if you're on Pinterest, you have probably seen something like this pop up across your feed. I think it's absolutely hilarious. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about it. But I think our current family rules would be something totally different.

  • You must wear underwear at the dinner table.
  • If you step on something sticky, clean it up, or at the very least, warn Mommy that there's something sticky in the house.
  • We do not put strawberries between the couch cushions.
  • Do not bite anyone who isn't related to you. If you must bite, please do not draw blood.
  • We pee in the potty, not in the hallway.
  • Do not lick things from your fingers if you can't remember what they are.
  • Goldfish are not for babies.
  • Please do not climb on anything higher than your head.
  • Eat your vegetables.
  • Anyone caught screaming and jumping on the bed simultaneously will be put in time out. Separate these activities if you'd like to stay in the clear.
  • Jesus is WATCHING YOU.

4 months of Twin Love

Well, Max and Miles are four months old. They are absolutely our heart's delight. We are just enjoying them like crazy. Having twins seems to force everyone to just slow down, because it's just too chaotic any other way, and I'm really liking it. There are dishes everywhere, clothes everywhere, toys everywhere, kids everywhere...but it's nice. I'm getting plenty of time to play with the kids, and they'll be grown and gone faster than I can even comprehend. The only thing that's REALLY changed around here is the noise level. Ai-yi-yi...The noise is a killer. I live for the silence of naptime.

The boys are getting very close to sleeping through the night, but we're battling a pretty decent case of RSV for right now, so we'll have to wait until everyone is breathing easier to see how they're really doing in that department. They generally go down right at 8 and sleep until 12:30 or so. I think one of them is only waking once a night, but I'm not sure which one it is. The other one (miles?) wakes a couple of times a night for a quick cuddle and a little snack. I'm getting enough sleep to function "okay," which is fine for now. Weekends are my time to rest and recover, and thankfully Daddy understands how much of my night is spend bed-hopping, so he's still very forgiving in that department. Unfortunately for him, he has three other little girls to manage throughout the night and often ends up with one of two girls in bed with him at some point throughout the night. I usually sleep with him until the first wake-up and then I juggle babies in the nursery until 5:30, so the girls are getting very spoiled right now! They're going to have a rude awakening when they start coming in to find Mommy in her spot again! Soon...I hope.

It's naptime right now. Claire lives to nap, so she jumped right into bed and was asleep before I closed her door. Molly knocked out pretty quick after Claire went down, but she burned her arm on a pan this morning so she needed to ice her boo-boo first. The boys are hanging out in the dining room with me, as our family room is CLOSED FOR BUSINESS! This is THRILLING.

WHY is it closed, you ask? Well, due to the very, very nasty, stinky, unhealthy carpet in our family room, hallway and bedrooms, we decided it was time to renovate! That's all I'm going to say for now - we'll put up a nice, long post when it's all done. We are living in cramped quarters for awhile, but I'm fairly certain that our space is very doable for the next few weeks. Once the family room is done, we'll be moving on to the bedrooms and hallway, so we may not have this place back in working order for quite some time! If we can finish up all the work by June, I'll be a very happy camper!

Well, it's Max's turn for a bottle and a nap, so I'm off again. Pictures to come soon - I'll try to get them up tonight, maybe?

Christmas with the Cookes!

Before Christmas Mass - so many pretty little girls!

Leaving reindeer food!

Baking cookies for Santa!

Our very careful helper, Molly.

Grandma on baby duty, Daddy on wrapping duty.

If there is one memory I will always have of this house, it's the memory of a glowing tree next to the fireplace, surrounded by presents and love.

That Santa. He gets messier every year.

He was a pretty hungry fella!

Lucy's gift to Claire. Love it.

Daddy and his new gift!

The aftermath.

For the boys' first Christmas, we were thrilled to see snow on the ground!

Bad, bad dog. We found out he'd been sneaking onto the sectional in the middle of the night.

How I spent my Christmas! Sleeping upright, nursing babies. We call this the Stack-n-Snack!

Daddy and his pack of cuties!

Newborny and Delicious!
