Another Happy Home

Well, Lucy is eating breakfast and John is still sleeping and Mo is playing in her saucer, so I'll do a little update. I can NOT get my computer to recognize my camera, so I'll have to link you to Mom's blog and give you a few cute pics I took last week.

Moving went great. On Friday, Mom C came up and Tom came over and we did lots of boxes and worked on the kitchen. We ended the day with a movie and an early bedtime!

On Saturday, Calvin, Katherine, Yeff, Katie, Scott, John and Mom C helped us move EVERYTHING over and we ended the day with a big dinner at the new house with lots of wine. Lucy spent the day with the Starks and had a blast while we worked our patooties off. By 2pm I was baking a dessert in the new house, dish towels hung and oven just humming away. At this point, we have moving down to a science and it usually goes pretty quick.

On Sunday, we went to Mass and headed over to the old house to clean and have lunch on the floor. We got back here around 2 and spent the rest of the day unpacking! By Monday morning, we were pretty much settled in and comfortable!

Let's see. Things I LOVE about this house:
  • The creek - we can wade and swim to our heart's content and Andrew can fish every night. Big fish, too! It's a great place to take kids who visit and a great way to kill a hot afternoon.
  • The quiet - Just birds and the train.
  • The privacy.
  • The fact that our everyday home feels like a vacation destination.
  • The huge covered porch.
  • Watching Maple run!
  • Having the laundry on the main floor. Bliss!
  • Having a dishwasher and ice maker and TONS of counter space and cabinets. Double bliss!
So what's not to like?
  • It's a tad isolated and we do need to plan a little more for trips to town.
  • The mice! We live next to a hayfield and can't leave even a SPECK of food out on the counters or we'll have midnight visitors.
  • The walls are REALLY thick and without baby monitors I can't hear the girls at all. Ugh.
Okay, pictures coming. In the meantime, read Mom's blog!
