you put your right leg in and you shake it all about...

Well, my nightly involuntary jig is starting and my husband is playing video games, so here I sit. The kitchen's even clean, so all I have left to do is push my ridiculous life onto the interwebz.

It's been a fantastic weekend, truth be told. We looked at some houses yesterday morning, and we decided tonight that we're going to give it another shot. So tomorrow, we'll be turning in an offer on a house about 3 blocks from the "other house." This one is a tad smaller, but on a half acre lot on the golf course. We don't golf, but just think of all the golf balls my little angels will be able to collect! It's still in the lake community, and as it's an older house with a true 2-car garage, we'd have space to store a boat, which appears to be key. It's a 4 bedroom, 3 bath house built in 1977. And it really hasn't been updated since...1977. We love the location, the vibe and the lake. So, we deal with the rest and make it fabulous as we go. As it's an older house, the living space isn't exactly sprawling. Most of that space is in the bedrooms. No eat-in kitchen, but that can come in time. The lot is plenty large enough to add on to the house, but our family is of a mind that families should be outside enjoying the world around them. Houses today are built to hole up inside, and while this house is certainly large enough to be comfortable, we're a little relieved that the house is designed to draw you outside. There are so many windows and great views from the house - you almost feel guilty if you're not out there enjoying it!

But what of the updates? We're probably looking at five to ten years of simple renovations followed by a massive expansion at some point. The house is welcoming and quirky, which we love, but Texas really doesn't "do" older homes, so it sort of changes our mindset a bit. Going from brand-new home shopping to a Lowes card is something to wrap your head around, but that's really something we both love. We both enjoy the fun of renovations and overhauls, and we're not strangers to loving an old house. (Frostburg, anyone?) Old house love aside, that doesn't mean we love spending the money that's required for the job!

The girls were tickled pink by the whole property. Lucy walked in the front door and sighed, "This house feels like summer!" It's hard shopping for a home with a 4 year old in tow. Lucy has always loved moving around and is totally enamored by the entire process, but that doesn't mean she has any idea what home shopping IS. Every time we step into a house, she tears off to find "her room." Once she finds "her room," she asks when we're moving in. Then she asks for dogs and ponies and more siblings. It's a little exhausting to try to explain it, so we just play it like we're going to a museum or something. For all she knows, we're just a family that loves to walk through empty houses! Molly loves empty houses for the scream factor- I can tell our realtor really enjoys the echoes and screeching as much as she does..

So, the offer will go in first thing tomorrow morning. If this house is the one God has lined up for us, it'll work out. If not, we're a pretty accepting bunch around here. If we don't get this one, there's something better out there anyway! I suppose it's all worth the pain if you can find a "house that feels like summer."

After the houses, I went to Charlotte's for the big baby shower! It was a wonderful time! Carrie and I had a great time and were blessed with so many beautiful baby gifts from our loving friends! Can't wait to meet these babies!

I have an OB appt in the morning and am working on a short list of questions for him. Baby Tex appears to be doing fine - so fine, in fact, that Andrew has had to move to the guest room a couple of times now, in the middle of the night. Apparently my little tenant gets kicking so hard that the bed shakes and wakes Andrew up. It doesn't bother me, since it's an all-day thing for me, but Andrew is a light sleeper and it makes him nutty! I'm thrilled to have such a healthy and active baby, but it feels like there are ten babies in there!

Well, I'm about to pass out. I'll update after the appointment tomorrow - here's hoping for a surprise sono!
