Dog and Pony Show, Indeed...

(These pictures are in no particular order because I have NO idea how to upload more than one picture and keep them straight.)

Well, we took Lucy to her first and last Shriner's Circus yesterday. What Andrew and I found to be an abysmal waste of cash was for Lucy the event of a lifetime. She was stunned by the pony rides, crazy fire jugglers, abused dogs, clowns who'd forgotten their names, aerialists spinning from dreamcatchers and many other sights exclusive to 4th-rate circuses small enough to fit in a college gym.

As you can see from her face, it really didn't matter that Amazing Mercedes the Unschooled Circus Child was whipping the legs of a very sad-looking miniature horse so that he'd spin in circles.

For Lucy, the highlight of the Hamid Circus was having over half a bottle of soda to herself.

I knew deep down I shouldn't pay to support a pony ride at a traveling circus, but my motherly photo opp instinct kicked in and I couldn't stop myself.

The girl is a natural. She loved being on the pony and was just beyond thrilled to be riding.

Highlight #2 - Cotton Candy. It took some clever parenting to hide it from her after she'd inhaled more than the recommended amount, and Daddy eventually caved and gave her another round. She was just mystified and delighted!

Now THIS is entertainment. How cute were these guys!?

Molly thought the circus was awe-inspiring.

Daddy and his circus girls!

Pre-show diaper change!

All in all, it was an excellent time. However, we were promised elephants and all we saw were dogs and ponies. No joke.

In other news, the weekend was awesome. We went to Ben's birthday party, took naps, cleaned the basement, repaired some stuff outside and cleaned the entire back yard.

Maple even did some housework. She wrapped her lease around one of the supports under the carport and pulled it off. And I do mean off. It does open up the front of the house nicely, though. She just had another growth spurt, so I think she's grossly unaware of her strength at the moment.

Anyway, off to play group!

You do NOT have them in matching outfits, do you?! That is the cutest stinking thing I have ever seen!

It looks like Lucy had a great time.

And you look great!
